Retirement Income: Public Employees Retirement Fund (PERF) – 100% employer-funded Defined Benefit Account (pension), part of a two-part hybrid plan. The second part of this plan is a Defined Contribution which requires employees to contribute 3%. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, “Only 15 percent of private industry workers had access to a defined benefit plan”. Once vested and upon retirement, a pension gives you retirement income for life versus a 401k which only gives you what you save.

Paid Time Off: Accrued-Eligible 160 to 296 PTO hours per year (based on years of service) – depending on your schedule, this comes out to 20 to 37 days off (4 to 7 weeks off) per year.
